Overview
Description:
The city of Ayacucho (which is also known as Huamanga) was declared Capital of Popular Art and Handicrafts of Peru.
It is also known as the “City of Churches”, for its 37 Catholic churches in the Renaissance and Baroque style.
The Ayacucho Cathedral is one of its main religious centers and dates from the 17th century. With a baroque style, it is one of the main attractions of the region.
